Advanced Treatment Modalities for Athletes in Abbottstown, PA
At Perform Strong PT, advanced treatment techniques are not offered as standalone services. They are integrated strategically into your rehabilitation plan to accelerate tissue recovery, manage pain during loading progressions, and improve movement quality. Every modality we use has a specific clinical rationale behind it.

Normatec Compression
Normatec uses dynamic pneumatic compression to accelerate circulation, reduce muscle soreness, and support recovery between training sessions. We use it as part of post-operative recovery protocols and during high-volume training phases where tissue
recovery is a limiting factor.
recovery is a limiting factor.

Neuromuscular Electrical Stimulation
NMES uses electrical current to stimulate muscle contractions, making it particularly valuable in early post-operative stages where voluntary muscle activation is limited. It helps maintain muscle mass, improve neuromuscular recruitment, and accelerate the transition into active strengthening phases of rehab.

Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization
IASTM uses specialized instruments to detect and treat soft tissue restrictions, scar tissue, and fascial adhesions that limit movement and contribute to pain. It is particularly effective for athletes dealing with chronic tendinopathy, post-surgical tissue restrictions, and movement limitations that don't respond to manual therapy alone.

Dry-Needling
Dry needling targets myofascial trigger points using thin monofilament needles to reduce pain, improve muscle activation, and restore range of motion. It is not acupuncture. The mechanism is neuromuscular, and we use it as a complement to active rehabilitation rather than a primary treatment on its own.

Cupping
Cupping creates negative pressure in soft tissue to improve blood flow, reduce fascial tension, and support tissue mobility. We use it primarily for athletes managing overuse injuries, chronic tightness, or soft tissue restrictions that are limiting loading capacity during rehab progressions.

Blood Flow Restriction Training
BFR training uses a specialized cuff to partially restrict venous blood flow during low-load resistance exercise, producing strength and hypertrophy adaptations at loads that are safe for post-operative and early-stage rehab patients. It allows athletes to maintain and build muscle mass during phases of recovery where heavy loading is not yet appropriate, significantly reducing deconditioning during long rehabilitation timelines.

Red Light Therapy
Red light therapy is a non-invasive treatment that delivers specific wavelengths of light to muscles and soft tissue to support recovery and performance. It can help reduce pain and inflammation, improve circulation, and promote cellular healing at the tissue level. At Perform Strong PT, red light therapy is used as part of a broader rehabilitation plan, not as a standalone treatment, helping athletes recover more efficiently between sessions and progress through their program faster.
